Review - Red Equipment Adventure Blanket and Sit Mat

Part of the collection is quilted, lightweight and water-resistant outdoor adventure blankets and sit mats. As a Red Ambassador I was sent the Adventure Blanket and Adventure Sit Mat to try out. Here's what I think about the new additions to the Red range of products...

Packable and ready to go

The idea behind these items is to combine waterproof practicality with a small pack size. Available as a family-sized blanket or as a super compact 1/2 person sit mat, great for any adventure. I couldn't wait to take them swimming to test them out, particularly as I spend most of my life sitting on the beach! I'm currently using an old bath mat so this is definitely an upgrade.

Adventure Blanket

Perfect for the beach, the Adventure Outdoor Blanket is waterproof, sand-proof – even dog-proof! On first impressions it is really big. You can easily fit two adults on, if not three. With children several could fit on it.

Unlike most other blankets, this has a waterproof base and a water-resistant top.

It is very durable and tough, built to withstand any terrain - the groundsheet is backed in abrasion-resistant recycled ripstop nylon - which makes it ideal for the shingle beach I usually swim at.

The top side is plush and soft, made from matt finish 100% Recycled Polyester. The inner material is 3M Thinsulate quilting which keeps you warm and comfy on any surface, whilst being insulating and water-resistant too.

The great thing about this blanket is that it is lightweight and portable, perfect for easy carrying. You can pop it into your swim bag or clip it on with the carabiners on the stash bag.

It's also great for picnics and camping. It features peg-down loops for windy days and a zipped corner pocket for popping your essentials into. Then when you’re done, simply shake off any sand, dirt or water, and pack it away into its own stash bag.

When the weather gets cooler or the wind has got up, wrap it around your shoulders as an extra layer. Great for wrapping up in to watch the sunset or for stargazing at night. Great for evenings around the campfire or an extra layer to cover you when sleeping in your campervan. I love that it is made from recycled fabrics and it is easy to machine wash.

Adventure Sit Mat

Just like the blanket, this is a smaller version which packs small and is a perfect addition to a go bag for paddleboarding or swimming. It would also be amazing for going on a hike so you can sit and have a drink or snack.

The outdoor sit mat is perfectly sized for an adult and their bag or two children. Same as the blanket, it has an abrasion-resistant recycled ripstop nylon base and a soft, recycled polyester top. It’s impervious to sand, dirt and water – just shake it off.

It unfolds fast, and stays put with peg-down loops for breezy days. When finished, it stashes down small into the built-in zipped pocket, which doubles as a carry bag.

Basically it’s lightweight, waterproof, and ready for anything. Plus it keeps you warm and comfy and you can stay clean and dry on any surface, whether you are changing or refuelling. For dog owners, pet hair doesn't stick which is handy! A must-have for chilling out or changing on by the water.
