#GetOutside Day 2024

Founded by Ordnance Survey, National #GetOutsideDay is a chance for us all to celebrate the great outdoors. We want to help more people to get outside more often so that they live longer, stay younger and enjoy life more!

It doesn’t matter where you go, what you do or who you’re with – everyone can get outside from their front door! So, save the date – Sunday 29 September 2024 and join us to celebrate National #GetOutsideDay 2024!

This year for National #GetOutside Day, it is all about one simple yet powerful message: The Outdoors is Yours. We're inviting everyone to reclaim the outdoors as their own personal space for adventure, relaxation and discovery.

The Outdoors is Yours means that no matter who you are, where you live, or what your level of experience is, the natural world is open and waiting for you. Whether you're exploring the beauty of a local park, hiking a new trail, or simply enjoying a moment of peace in your garden, this day is an opportunity to step outside and embrace the world around you. This theme encourages everyone to take ownership of their outdoor experiences - whether it's a solo adventure, a family outing, or a gathering with friends. The outdoors doesn't belong to any one group or individual; it belongs to all of us. It's a place where we can find joy, build memories, and improve our well-being.

Here's how you can make the outdoors yours this National #GetOutside Day:

  • Find Your Space: Discover a new favourite spot or revisit a cherished one. Whether it's a hidden gem, or a well-known destination, make it yours for the day.

  • Create Your Adventure: No matter how big or small, every outdoor activity is an adventure waiting to happen. Plan something that excites you - whether it's a gentle stroll, a challenging hike, or a simple picnic in the park.

  • Share the Experience: Invite others to join you. The outdoors is a place for connection and community. Whether you share the day with family, friends, or even strangers, let the outdoors bring people together.

  • Respect and Protect: The outdoors is ours to enjoy, but it's also ours to protect. Be mindful of the environment and ensure that future generations can enjoy the same natural beauty that we do today.

This National Get Outside Day we are inviting everyone to reclaim the outdoors as their own personal space for adventure, relaxation and discovery. We would absolutely love to see people get involved. Share your inspiration and what you get up to on social media by tagging us in #GetOutsideDay
